![]() The Sri Lanka Deputy High Commission in Chennai in association with the International Cine Appreciation Forum and the National film Cooperation of Sri Lankae organized a Sri Lankan Film Festival at the South Indian Film Chamber Theatre in Chennai. The three-day Sri Lanka Film festival was inaugurated by Sri Lanka’s Deputy High Commissioner to Southern India, P. M. Amza on 8th August, along with S. Ramakrishnan, State Chief Information Commissioner, who was the chief guest, Actor S. Karthi of Paruthiveeran fame and brother of popular star Surya, and noted actress and television personality Ms. Anu Haasan, niece of legendary actor, Kamal Haasan. Addressing the gathering during the inauguration, Deputy High Commissioner Amza, traced the long and historical cultural ties between Sri Lanka and India, especially Tamil Nadu and said that many Tamil movies have been filmed ion location in Sri Lanka. He also pointed out that many Sinhala films carryout their post production work in Chennai. While inviting Tamil film makers to use Sri Lanka as a preferred location for their future film projects, he also added that the film festival would be an opportunity for film enthusiasts in Chennai to appreciate Sri Lankan cinema. Mr. Ramakrishnan, Mr. S. Karthi and Ms. Anu Haasan also addressed the gathering. Mr. E. Thangaraj of the International Cine Appreciation Forum thanked the Sri Lanka Deputy High Commission for the continuous cooperation extended in organising regular Sri Lankan film festivals in Chennai for many years. |
